Belagavi Tension – Black Ink on Maha Driver

Marathi-speaking miscreants provoke Kannada pride in Belagavi.

Near Chitradurga, black ink was smeared on a Maha bus and its driver.

Belagavi: Kannada speakers are furious after a transport department official was assaulted for speaking in Kannada.

A group of 20 Marathi-speaking miscreants stopped a bus and attacked Mahadev Hukkeri for speaking in Kannada. The driver was also assaulted.

Though this incident occurred in Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar’s home constituency of Belagavi Rural, she has not commented on it so far.

Meanwhile, Belagavi police initially took the issue lightly. However, after strong protests from Kannada organizations, they have now taken serious.

Now, this tension seems to be spreading across the state. Near imangal Toll in Chitradurga district, members of the Karnataka Nava Nirmana Sene smeared black ink on a Maha bus and its driver as a mark of protest. The demonstration was led by district president Tippesh.

Notably, Karave district president Deepak Gudaganatti has warned that if the accused are not arrested, the protests will escalate.
