₹135 Crore Grant under CITIIS-2 Project – ‘Smart City Towards a Green City’

Known as Kundanagari and a Smart City, Belagavi is now set to transform into a Green City. The city has been selected under the CITIIS-2 project, paving the way for sustainable urban development.

Under this project, a Quadripartite Agreement worth ₹135 crore has been signed. The agreement was signed by Shubha B., Commissioner of Belagavi City Corporation, and the MD of Smart City. The signing took place in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, during a key event.

Sharath, Managing Director of KUIDFC (Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development & Finance Corporation), was present during the launch of this crucial project. Notably, Belagavi is the only city from Karnataka to receive this grant under CITIIS-2.

The event witnessed the participation of:
✔ Urban Development Ministers from over 10 states
✔ Delegates from more than 20 countries
✔ Over 100 IAS officers

Belagavi received special recognition at this prestigious event, underscoring its commitment to sustainable development. The project is expected to enhance urban sustainability and introduce an eco-friendly waste management system.


A Major Step Forward!

Belagavi City Corporation has taken a significant step toward urban development and environmental improvement by securing a ₹135 crore grant under the CITIIS-2 project.

This grant will be used to modernize solid waste management and transform the city into an eco-friendly urban hub.

Key Initiatives Under CITIIS-2

✅ 100 TPD Capacity CBG (Compressed Bio-Gas) Plant: This plant will convert daily waste into bio-gas, producing eco-friendly fuel.

✅ 25 TPD C&D (Construction & Demolition) Waste Management Unit: Aimed at recycling construction and demolition waste, this unit will contribute to urban cleanliness and sustainable waste reuse.

✅ Secondary Transfer Stations: To streamline waste collection, intermediate waste transfer stations will be set up in different parts of the city.

Advanced Equipment & Technology:

Sweeping machines to enhance road cleanliness

Bio-CNG-powered door-to-door waste collection vehicles to reduce pollution

Robotic UGD Manhole Desilting Machine for efficient underground drainage maintenance

✅ Upgradation of ICCC (Intelligent Command & Control Center): This will enhance integrated city waste management and real-time monitoring.

✅ 5 TPD Capacity Horticulture Waste to Coal Plant: A new initiative to convert green waste into eco-friendly fuel.

With the implementation of this project, Belagavi is set to become a model city for waste management and sustainability.

✔ Cleaner & Healthier City: Advanced waste management will ensure better urban hygiene.
✔ Eco-friendly Energy Production: Instead of waste disposal, waste will be repurposed into useful resources.
✔ Pollution Control: The initiative will significantly reduce landfill waste and improve waste collection efficiency.
