Renowned Company Faces Lockdown Over ₹6 Crore Tax Arrears

Belagavi:
A reputed company located in the outskirts of Udyambag industrial area is staring at imminent closure as the Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) prepares to seal its premises over non-payment of property tax dues amounting to ₹6 crore

According to sources, the company had failed to pay its long-pending tax to the corporation, despite repeated reminders. The issue was also discussed in the general body meeting of the corporation.

Taking the matter seriously, Municipal Commissioner Shubha B. held four rounds of hearings with the company in the last few days. However, the company failed to submit necessary documents or respond adequately.

With no resolution in sight, officials indicate that the corporation may proceed with sealing the premises by the weekend. The Revenue Department had reportedly shown several lapses in recovering dues, prompting the Commissioner to issue show-cause notices to four officials, including the Deputy Commissioner of Revenue.
