1050 Rowdies in Belagavi!

DCP Rohan Jagadish warns rowdy sheeters to mend their ways

Belagavi, known as the Kundanagari of the border region, has a staggering 1,050 individuals listed as rowdies in the city alone.

Some of these individuals have been included in the rowdy sheet list due to their involvement in personal altercations. Surprisingly, some of them are even activists from both linguistic factions.

DCP Jagadish Rohan gathered all the rowdies under the jurisdiction of the Belagavi Khade Bazaar sub division police station and issued a stern warning to them.

A parade of rowdies was organized as part of efforts to curb criminal activities. DCP Rohan emphasized that no one should take the law into their own hands for any reason or get involved in any disputes. He warned that the police department would not tolerate any criminal activities under any circumstances.

In the presence of Khade Bazaar ACP Shekharappa and officers from four other police stations, the details of all rowdies were reviewed, and legal warnings were issued. DCP Rohan mentioned that similar rowdy parades have already been conducted in rural police station limits, and in the coming days, such parades will be organized in the Market Police Station limits as well.

Over the past three years, around 40 individuals have been externed from the district. This time, three more externment proposals have been submitted from the Khade Bazaar police station. Additionally, good behavior bonds have been issued, with 17 bonds being executed in the last one and a half years. A fine of ₹1.77 lakh has also been imposed on rowdies involved in criminal cases, Rohan explained.

Rowdy Sheets Against Those Who Blackened Faces!

Belagavi police have filed rowdy sheets even against a Kannada activist who blackened the face of a traitorous MES member. Speaking on this issue, Kannada activist Anil Dandinamani recalled that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had promised to withdraw all cases against Kannada activists when his government came to power. However, no action has been taken so far. He questioned the fairness of the government filing cases against Kannada activists while failing to take action against those who chant “Jai Maharashtra.”

Kannada activist Kasturi Bhavi pointed out that even after four years, the rowdy sheet case against Anil Dandinamani, who protested against the MES, has not been resolved. She expressed frustration over the repeated injustice faced by Kannada activists. She sharply questioned why politicians and the police fail to take action against those who chant “Jai Maharashtra” in Karnataka.
