Felicitating a Kannadiga Councillor from the United Kingdom

Rajeev Krishna Metri, a Kannadiga councillor representing the Northwell Ward in Luton Borough, United Kingdom, was felicitated today by Vani Vilas Joshi, Deputy Mayor of Belagavi City Corporation. He is currently visiting Belagavi to attend the BEAMS program.

Hailing from Daddi village in Hukkeri taluk of Belagavi district, Rajeev has been residing in the UK for the past 20 years. He moved to the United Kingdom in 2001 for higher education, eventually securing employment there. Over the years, he gained public recognition and was elected as a councillor.

During the felicitation ceremony, Rajeev shared insights into the administrative framework of the UK, elaborating on the duties and responsibilities of a councillor.

His wife, Reena Rajeev Metri, works as a staff nurse. She served as a frontline healthcare worker in a government hospital’s COVID ward during the pandemic and contracted the virus herself. She later recovered with the help of medical treatment, breathing exercises, and yoga.

Rajeev Metri also serves as an executive committee member and treasurer of Kannada Balaga UK, an organization with a proud 38-year history. Following his election as councillor, the British Kannada community warmly acknowledged and celebrated his accomplishments.
