Do you know who is on the Belagavi Corporation membership cancellation list?

The membership of two councilors has been canceled.

Additionally, a complaint has been filed with the Regional Commissioner against four corporation councilors.

Among them, three are from the BJP and one from the Congress.

The complainant has stated that the records have been collected.

Belagavi.
Currently, there are no signs of the mayoral and deputy mayoral elections being held in the Belagavi City Corporation.

The term of the current mayor ended on the 14th of this month. However, the Regional Commissioner should have already issued a notification regarding these elections.

Due to technical reasons, the elections might be postponed, and it wouldn’t be surprising if they are delayed further.

In connection with the Belagavi khavu katta issue, the Regional Commissioner conducted an inquiry and issued an order canceling the membership of councilors Jayant Jadhav and Mangesh Pavar.

Both councilors challenged this order in the High Court, but the court upheld the Regional Commissioner’s decision. Instead, the court suggested they seek redress from the government.

Now, the Belagavi City Corporation has written to the Regional Commissioner, requesting the removal of these two members from the voter list for the mayoral elections.

However, to remove their names, a general body meeting of the corporation must be held. Since the mayor’s term has ended, it is not possible to convene such a meeting. Therefore, the Regional Commissioner is likely to postpone the elections citing this technical reason.

Interestingly, the names of three councilors from the ruling party and one from the opposition are also under scrutiny. A complaint regarding this is likely to be filed with the Regional Commissioner’s office soon.
