‘Mayor Election Nears’

The government has granted permission to hold a special meeting of the Belagavi City Corporation under the chairmanship of the interim mayor.
As the tenure of the city corporation mayor had ended, there was uncertainty regarding the budget meeting. Additionally, the cancellation of membership of two corporators had created a sort of deadlock for the mayoral election.
Now that the government has given approval, a decision has been made to hold the meeting on the 1st at 11 AM under the leadership of the interim mayor. Officials are also preparing to bring the issue of the two corporators’ membership status to the meeting’s attention.
However, according to sources, discussions regarding the cancellation of their memberships may not take place, as the Dharwad High Court has taken up the matter.
After this meeting, there is speculation that the Regional Commissioner might finalize the date for the mayoral election. Meanwhile, it has been reported that the standing committee has approved a temporary budget during its meeting.
