Water Crisis for Belagavi City Corporation

Belagavi, April 3:

A special meeting was held at the Belagavi Municipal Corporation to address the city’s growing water crisis, where a 15-day deadline was given to resolve the issue. The decision was taken in the presence of Mayor Mangesh Pawar, Deputy Mayor Vani Vilas Joshi, and Commissioner Shubha B.

Several areas of the city are facing acute drinking water shortages, forcing residents to wait by wells, ponds, or for water tankers from early morning. The meeting saw serious discussions on the work efficiency of L&T, dependence on water tankers, water quality, and project delays.

Corporators expressed strong dissatisfaction with officials. They questioned why L&T quickly excavates roads but takes years to restore them. Corporator Rekha Huggar raised concerns about contaminated drinking water, which is causing health issues among residents.

The Mayor directed officials to focus on a permanent solution rather than temporary fixes. Deputy Mayor Vani Joshi advised completing one project fully before starting another, as the ongoing incomplete projects are inconveniencing the public.

The Municipal Commissioner assured that 35 water tankers have been deployed and that steps are being taken to ensure 24-hour water supply across the city.
