Belagavi:
From early Saturday morning, Belagavi’s Vartabhavan was abuzz with excitement. The felicitation and dialogue program organized by the Belagavi Journalists’ Association brought together people’s representatives, journalists, and citizens on a single platform, united in the vision that development must be the shared goal, above differing opinions.

The main highlight of the event was the address by the MLA of Belagavi South Constituency, Abhay Patil, who provided clarity regarding the drinking water issue. “A water supply plan has been developed based on the projected population for the year 2057. About 88% of the pump sets have been installed, and several borewells have been reactivated,” he explained, adding that continuous water supply to most wards would be possible within the next two to three years.

Mayor Mangesh Pawar also clarified the current situation in his response. He said there is no shortage of water at present, and that technical issues and power disruptions are the main causes of any irregular supply. He informed that 14 water tankers have been arranged each for both the North and South constituencies.

Another major focus of the discussion was on urban development issues like parking problems, e-Khata, and building permits. The MLA faced a flurry of direct questions and responded in a transparent and confident manner, enhancing the credibility of the session.

“We are working for the development of the city, setting aside caste and language. Direct conversations with citizens help guide us in providing essential amenities.”

“Without the cooperation of the media, the progress we make cannot reach the public. Let’s work together as one.”

– *Vani Vilas Joshi, Deputy Mayor*

“Politics should be set aside—development is the true value. Journalists must shine light on the truth and play a vital role in progress.”

– *Abhay Patil, MLA*

*Emotion in Felicitation – A Unity Beyond Party Lines*

The MLA, Mayor, and Deputy Mayor once again pledged to work for the holistic development of all 58 wards of Belagavi city, beyond party boundaries. It was felt that such programs, which establish direct communication with journalists, are a step toward transparent governance.

The event was presided over by Vilas Joshi, President of the Journalists’ Association. Gurunath Kadabur was the chief guest. Ravindra Uppar welcomed the gathering, and Sunita Desai compered the event.
