The Congress government has once again resorted to its political maneuvers to destabilize the BJP-controlled Belagavi City Corporation. The state government’s decision to cancel the membership of BJP Mayor Mangesh Pawar and Corporator Jayant Jadhav has now triggered intense debate in political circles.
It is clear that the government used the recent ‘Tinnisu Katte’ (canteen) controversy in the corporation as a pretext to cancel the membership of the BJP mayor and another corporator. Even earlier, despite no fault on the part of the corporation, the Congress government had issued a supersede notice to demonstrate its political power. However, MLA Abhay Patil had given a strong legal reply and thwarted the government’s plan.
