Belagavi

The drop of clean water that will soon flow into every home in Belagavi South is not just the story of a basic facility—it is the saga of public service grown through a path of struggle.

Breaking down the walls of political obstacles, administrative delays, and negligence, the tireless efforts of MLA Abhay Patil have brought today’s drop of peace as a permanent solution to the city’s thirst.

The drop of peace that quenches thirst

For years, the narrow lanes of Belagavi South echoed stories of thirst.
The days when the sound of water tankers made children run with buckets, the memories of waiting in long queues for hours at wells—these are now on the path to becoming history.
This is not just the flow of water—it is a river of public service fed by struggle.

Crossing the stones of political hurdles, the soil of administrative slowness, and the pits of negligence, Abhay Patil built a bridge of determination—today’s drop of peace flows across it.

Dream – Obstacle – Struggle Again

In 2012-13, Abhay Patil brought government approval for an ambitious project to provide 24-hour clean drinking water daily.
But political changes, blows of negligence, and administrative apathy stopped the dream halfway.

When most gave up, Patil did not abandon the fight.
In 2018-19, he again knocked on the doors of the government, making continuous rounds of the finance department and all related offices.
Hundreds of official letters, countless meetings, relentless insistence—this resulted in the approval of the ₹804 crore continuous water supply project.

From that moment, the project breathed new life .

Features of the Project

Benefit: Direct clean water connection to more than 40,000 homes

Facilities : Construction of 12 different-sized water storage tanks

Initial Phase:
2 hours of water supply daily to 251 homes from the Rani Channamma Nagar water tank; full 24/7 supply within 3 months

Technical Capacity:
System capable of delivering water to buildings up to 21 feet above ground level

Quality : Storage, purification, and pipeline network built to international standards

Public Contact and Responsibility

During the work, some inconvenience arose as roads were dug up, but Patil personally visited the sites, supervised the work, and expedited repairs.

His stance was clear: “The inconvenience is temporary – the benefit is permanent.”

The Inaugural Moment – Witnessed by the People

August 14, 2025, 8:00 PM – Rani Channamma Nagar Phase 1.
When the first drop flowed from the water tank into homes, smiles spread across people’s faces.
Patil recalled the path of struggle and explained his vision for the future.

Mayor Mangesh Pawar, Deputy Mayor Vani Joshi, and several public representatives witnessed the occasion.

People’s Relief and Expectations

“From now on, dependence on ponds, wells, and tankers will reduce,” residents said with joy.
Elders call it “the biggest change in the city’s history.”

For youth, women, and students, this marks a new chapter in raising the standard of living.

An Unforgettable Day

“Bringing clean drinking water to people’s homes is the most unforgettable moment of my political life.
This is not just a political achievement—it is a duty of public service.
Once the project is fully implemented, Belagavi South will become a model area for continuous water supply in the state.
Health problems, wastage of time, and inconvenience will reduce significantly.”
— Abhay Patil, MLA, Belagavi South
